The linux kernel is the most important piece of software ever made period. But wait a minute sure the Linux kernel has been optimized and fine tuned for 35 years. But what about the other part the distribution if were counting all the community and fan made ones there are properly over one thousand distributions and fifty mainstream distributions that are well known. If you have been in the tech community at all you have properly heard about the bedrock distributions like ubuntu or debian linux. Which pop os and linux mint and kali linux are all based on but there are also distributions that are independent like arch linux or gentoo Linux (i use gentoo btw). These are distributions that are normally ran by the community and are funded by folks donations and normally are much more "experimental" but have genuinely useful features. Experienced system administrators swear by these distributions if your a beginner just use linux mint and leave it. Then switch to arch once you have enough experience well you might be wondering if this guy is chanting about Linux so much what is he using? Gentoo Linux thats what im using its amazing and gives you complete control over your system. And if you have ever seen a meme about a guy living in the woods with a handgun and a thinkpad Gentoo Linux will properly be on that.
My favorite Linux distribution
I love linux as a kernel but in my opinion there is only one above the others.
